On Your Behalf (November 2016)

NPC has been working on your behalf making submissions, attending meetings, ensuring the voices of parents of primary school children are being heard

On your behalf:

  • NPC holds a Special Education Conference ‘Getting it Right for Children’ on 12.11.2016  - Speakers include Ombudsman for Children Dr. Niall Muldoon, Bill Ahessy Senior Music Therapist. In the afternoon a Consultation session took place with parents facilitated by the NCSE on the SNA Scheme click here for further information on the conference
  • NPC surveyed parents to get their views on school uniform costs in advance of a Department of Education and Skills Circular to be issued to all schools
  • NPC surveyed parents in Rural and Island schools to address a Joint Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs on staffing and pupil ratios, facilities and transport in Rural and Island schools.
  • NPC Chairman & CEO attend the European Parents’ Association (EPA) General Assembly in Seville 
  • NPC attend an information session on Primary Online Database (POD) in the Department of Education and Skills 


11.11.2016 - NPC Office closes as a mark of respect for former colleague and founding member of NPC.

Mary Killeen, one of the founding members of NPC and beloved former colleague, died on the 8.11.2016. Mary worked tirelessly advocating for the voice of parents and children at a local, national and European level. Mary was held in very high esteem by all her colleagues and those who worked with her both in a voluntary capacity and during her many years as NPC’s Helpline Officer.
